M1, Week 1, Jaydens Peacock

This idea is bases on having the Living space on the second floor as it is not used at night as much as say the bedroom would. This idea is to keep the beedrooms close to the ground giving good thermal mass, and in return having a warm bed room on cold nights. Plant cover is provided in areas next to windows or openings to allow protection from dust.

This idea Contines from the first expanding on the idea of thermal mass. Trying to have the Living areas with great thermal mass keeping the day time tempritures low and having thebedrooms low in thermal mass so its not too hot at night. Using eaves and small windows blocking out the suns raise and roof/ceiling vents to let the hot air out.

Here i am trying to expand on the idea of hot air rises. letting the air flow though vents to the highest point of the house then excapes though a roof vent. small widows and eave are used again. This dwelling could use the same princaples, of thermal mass, as the previous design .

I like the idea of having part of the house underground, but I'm not too sure about having two stories because i worry that it may get too hot upstairs. Maybe we could do a lot with evaporative cooling though, especially with a central courtyard - i'll look into it...
